Dr. Aleena Ayaz received her Bachelor of Science degree from Mount Royal University in 2015 and subsequently obtained her Doctorate of Optometry from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico.
During her four years in Puerto Rico, Dr. Ayaz participated in numerous voluntary humanitarian activities both locally and abroad, such as Volunteer Optometry Services for Humanity (VOSH), the local chapter of the Lions Clubs, and a mission trip to the Island of Vieques to name just a few.
She was also a strong advocate in helping her fellow students and devoted her spare time in mentoring first-year optometry students to the demanding rigours of optometry school.
Dr. Ayaz underwent extensive training with various well known cataract, retina, and glaucoma specialists and eye centres in the United States. She completed a primary care externship in Miami for four months and a three month ocular disease rotation at the OMNI eye services in Atlanta.
In her free time, Dr. Ayaz enjoys traveling, hiking, and scrapbooking.
Dr. Ayaz is fluent in Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, and clinical Spanish.
She is a member of the Alberta College of Optometrists, Alberta Association of Optometrists and the Calgary Society of Optometrists.
