Dr. Fung is the one of the best dry eye specialists on the planet -- he never rushes you out of the room — not even close. I came to him with full lists of detailed questions at multiple appointments, and he always took the time to answer each one thoughtfully, never making me feel like I was being a burden or wasting his time. What I really appreciate is that he's also willing to repeat tests at future appointments so you can track your progress, which gives real peace of mind. And if you ask him to do something like express your meibomian glands to check the quality of oil, he's always more than happy to help — no hesitation, no resistance. If I had one suggestion for improvement, it would be to consider being a little more open to patient-driven experimentation, especially with conditions like dry eye where responses can be highly individual. I had researched upper punctal plugs and found many patients reporting dramatic improvement. Dr. Fung mentioned that studies don't show much difference — and that may well be true on average — but I personally would have loved the chance to try them earlier, just to rule it out for myself. I eventually had them placed by another doctor and the results were life-changing: I went from barely functioning 1–2 hours a day to having 90% of my normal productivity back. Turns out, my medication wasn’t staying in my eye long enough — and the plugs fixed that. Even with that one suggestion, Dr. Fung is still the GOAT. I trust him completely — so much so that I plan to fly back from out of province just to see him. Grateful for the support he's providing in giving me my life back.
